Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Meriwether “Jake” Lewis IV, 27, died Dec. 22, 2012, at his home in Portland, Ore., of natural causes.
There will be a memorial service to remember this wonderful man at 2 p.m., March 10 at Evangelo’s restaurant, downstairs in the banquet room, for all those who may want to attend.
Meriwether was born to Michelle Kirkpatrick and Meriwether Lewis III on Oct. 23, 1985.
He was raised in Washington until the age of 14, when he moved to Wasilla and lived with his father.
He attended Wasilla High School and was known by many as Jake.
Surviving are his mother, Michelle Kirkpatrick; step-father, Robert D. Kirkpatrick; father, Meriwether Lewis III; and sister, Ksenia Lewis.
“He was well-loved and will be missed by many,” his family wrote.
Jake loved snowboarding, riding snowmachines, fishing and spending time with his many friends.
He had a wonderful sense of humor and always knew the best way to cheer you up. He gave the best bear hugs.
“We love you with all our hearts and will miss you greatly,” his family wrote.
