Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Michael Charles McKervey – Born June 16, 1951, in Burbank, CA and died peacefully at home on June 1, 2023, in Wasilla, Alaska; in the company of Angela Morton, his partner of 14 years.
Mickey is preceded in death by parents Edward and Angela McKervey, his brother Kevin McKervey, his son Michael C. McKervey, Jr. and daughter Angela McKervey.
He is survived by his partner Angela Morton, grandson, Caleb Walthall of Anchorage, granddaughters Mary Jane Pearlmann, Eugene, OR, and Syren McKervey, Wasilla, his brothers Thomas McKervey, Nehalem, OR, Edward McKervey, Marina, CA, Francis McKervey, Newbury Park, CA and his sister Maryann McKervey Emerson, Woodburn, OR. We will miss him forever.
Mike/Mac/Mickey/Michael loved riding motorcycles his entire adult life. He was involved with the construction and roofing of many homes in the Mat-Su Valley. He loved the volunteer work he did on the Alaska Railroad 557 Restoration Project before his health took a turn.
His love of life and desire to be a free spirit, undefined and unconstrained were lifelong aspirations, and he succeeded.
Michael loved his family. Many nieces, nephews, cousins. He also loved his chosen family, numerous friends in Alaska, California and beyond.
A celebration of Mickey’s life will be scheduled for August 2023 in Wasilla, AK.
