Sutton resident Michael David Jenkins, 34, was killed in a motor vehicle accident on Aug. 1, 2012, in Sutton.

A celebration of his life is at 3 p.m., Aug. 18 at the Johnson family home in Chugiak. His cremated remains will be scattered at his favorite hunting spot.

Michael was born July 11, 1978, in Anchorage. He grew up in Chugiak. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, rock hunting and spending time with his children.

“When you made friends with Mike, you had a friend for life,” his family wrote. “He would do anything for you. He had the biggest heart, the bluest eyes and the biggest laugh in all of Alaska. He had an exceptional ability to make others laugh. An avid fisherman and hunter, he shot his first caribou at age 14. He was so proud of getting a moose the first day of season to feed his family. He was at his happiest when he was with his two children, Willow and Orion.”

His sister Callie said, “My brother was really funny. He always made me laugh, and I know through spirit, he still always will.”

Mike is survived by his parents, Jo Ellen and Michael Johnson of Chugiak and Dave and Jeanette Jenkins of Palmer; children, Willow Rose Jenkins and Orion Michael Jenkins of Willow; brother, Donald Jenkins of Wasilla; sisters, Callie Johnson of Anchorage, Destiny Jenkins of Palmer, Holly Mothershead and Gretchen Paulson; grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins in New York, Oregon, California and Arizona; and a wide circle of friends all over Alaska and the Lower 48 too many to name — you all know who you are. He loved you.

He was preceded in death by his beloved dogs, Zeke and Gypsy.

Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Alaska. An online guestbook can be viewed at alaskacremation.com.
