Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Michael Frank George, 29, died Dec. 21, 2012, in Atlanta, Ga. He was born July 5, 1983, in Anchorage to Weldow and Susan Ashley George.
Michael was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He graduated from Bartlett High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Infantry Division, including 13 months in Iraq. He was also a member of the IBEW in the Apprentice Lineman’s Program. He loved his family and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Surviving are his children Mike Jr. and Kodie Allen; parents, Weldow and Susan George; brother, Ryan George; sisters, Jennifer, Rebekah, and Julia George, all residing in Alaska; extended family; aunts, uncles and cousins in the Lower 48.
He was a great friend to many and will be remembered as a man who loved the great outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, snowmachining, four-wheeling and spending time with his family.
Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m., Jan. 4 at 10865 W. Horizon Drive, Mile 12.5, Knik-Goose Bay Road. A memorial service will follow from noon to 1 p.m. A military graveside dedication will follow.
