Longtime Wasilla resident, Michael Henry Maslyk, 58, passed away on May 24th doing what he loved best, helping his friends and family.
He was born to Walter and Dorothy Maslyk on September 14, 1962, in Anchorage, Alaska. Mike’s family moved to Pennsylvania in 1977 where he graduated from Shenango High School. He moved back to Alaska shortly after and settled in Wasilla, AK, where he lived until his death. Mike loved woodworking and opened his own business, M & P Cabinet Crafters, in Wasilla, which he co-owned with his brother Jeff for 30 years.
Mike was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Wasilla and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Mike is survived by his mother, Dorothy “Dot” Maslyk; his brothers, Walter and Jeffery Maslyk; and his sisters, Mary Shampine and Pamela Maslyk. Mike is also survived by his long-term girlfriend, Rosa Brunner; sister-in-law, Debbie Maslyk; brothers-in-law, Alvin Shampine and Toshi Hamazaki; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a viewing at the Legacy Funeral Home in Wasilla, Wednesday, June 2, from 4 to 8pm. Funeral mass will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wasilla, Thursday, June 3, at 2 pm.
