Michael McKervey Jr.

Michael McKervey Jr. came screaming into this world on Dec. 10, 1981, at Durango Community Hospital in Colorado, born to Janice Miner and Michael McKervey Sr.

He moved to Alaska at 8 months old and stayed until kindergarten. The family moved to Hawaii, and Spike spent his early youth surfing the waves and living island style. At 13, Spike came home to Alaska and took the Valley by storm. He long-boarded through the streets, was the King of backyard wrestling, and played drums for the local band, “The Turtles”.

As a teen, he worked for the Go Karts and organized the only known strike at Wendy’s. As a young man he learned construction and hard work from his father. He was multi-talented in construction, but excelled in granite fabrication.

Spike was insanely loyal with an enormous heart, and if he knew you, he had your back. Spike left this world on Feb. 12, 2016, on the beach in Hawaii, under the moon, listening to the sounds of a music festival.

He is preceded in death by his mom, Janice Miner. He is survived by his father, Michael McKervey Sr.; his first partner in crime and baby sister, Angela McKervey; his son, Caleb Walthall; his baby girl, Siren McKervey; stepmom, Angela Morton; many relatives and thousands of friends.

To know Spike (Mad Mike), was to love him, and anyone who met him will never be the same.
