Michael “Scotty” Lamkin, 64, passed away May 26, 2015, at his home in Wasilla surrounded by family and friends following a brief illness. Scotty was born March 24, 1951, in Bloomington, Illinois, to Stiles William and Marjorie Bruner Lamkin. After graduating high school in 1969 from Meade County High in Kentucky, Scotty attended the University of Kentucky. He was proud to be a Kentucky Colonel.

Scotty moved to Alaska in January 1979 and became a Big Game hunting and fishing guide as well as the author of the book “Chance is the Providence of Adventures.” He also will appear in the National Geographic Show Yukon River Run airing at 9 p.m., July 20, his last adventure on Earth. As an artist Scotty painted many logos on gym floors throughout Alaska and for TV and Computer commercials. His many hobbies included taking care of his nine-hole, par-three golf course, hunting, fishing, flying and spending time with his grandkids.

A brilliant, wonderful, loving and caring man, he will be missed by all who had the chance to meet him and our family will never be the same.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Lamkin, of Wasilla; daughter, Britni (Donnie) Eller of Wasilla; son, Tim Lamkin of Juneau; mother, Marjorie Bruner Lamkin; brother, James (Mary) Lamkin; sister, Pat Lamkin Wilson all of Brandenburg, KY; grandsons, Oliver, Ayden, Bryson; granddaughter, Karmen Mari; numerous nieces and nephews and my friends he loved as family. He is preceded in death by his father, Stiles William Lamkin and grandparents Homer J. Bruner and Alex F. Lamkin.

Celebration of Life took place at the Lamkin Homestead in Wasilla on May 26, 2015 and was attended by many friends near and far. “A man practices the Art of Adventure when he breaks the chain of mundane routine.”

Arrangements were entrusted to Valley Funeral Home and Crematory in Wasilla.
