Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Michael Wind, 56, died at his Wasilla home on Aug. 25.
He was born May 26, 1958 in Orem, Utah. He was in the U.S. Air Force from 1977 to 1981. He came to Alaska in 1980 and most recently worked at Mat-Su Mechanical.
He is survived by his daughter, Lara Thompson of Wasilla; son, Jason Wind of Wasilla; step-daughter, Jillyan (Keith) Hendrickson of Big Lake; step-son, Travis Webb of Denver, Colorado; longtime significant other, Jan Webb of Wasilla; granddaughters, Delanie Wind of Moorehead, Minnesota and Emma Thompson of Wasilla; grandsons, Braden Thompson and Casey Hendrickson of Wasilla; brothers, Steve Wind of Wasilla and Ronnie Wind of Utah; and sister, Debbie Thompson of Utah.
Memorial services are at 11 a.m., Aug. 29 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wasilla.
