Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Michelle E. “Mickey” Podoll, 59, of Wautoma, Wisc., died as the result of an accident Sept. 27, 2012, in Spring Lake, Wisc.
She was born June 4, 1953, in Palmer to Don D. and Betty (Meehan) Moore Sr. She married Roger L. Podoll on Feb. 28, 1976, in Anchorage.
Mickey was a 1971 graduate of Palmer High School. She attended Gulf Coast Bible College in Houston, Texas, Nyack Bible College at Nyack, New York and later the University of Alaska at Palmer.
She moved from Palmer to Wautoma in 1976. Mickey was the Librarian at the Wautoma Public Library since December 2007. She loved children and was instrumental in the growth of the children’s section of the library. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and quilting. She belonged to Faith Baptist Church where she served as clerk for the church and taught Sunday School. Mickey will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who had an abundant devotion to God and her faith.
Surviving are her loving husband, Roger L. Podoll, Wautoma; six children: Jennifer (Andrew) Nygren, Brandon; Marjorie (Scott) Smith, Woodruff; Grace Podoll (Brent Janaky) Colorado Springs, Colo.; John Podoll, Wautoma; David Podoll, Wautoma; William Podoll, Wautoma; six grandchildren, Justus, Madeleine, Willow and Clive Nygren; Ezekiel and Ezra Smith; two brothers, Patrick Moore, Copper Center; and Michael Moore, San Antonio, Texas; and other relatives and dear friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents and by one brother, Don D. Moore Jr.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m., Oct. 1 at Waushara Community Church, Wautoma with Pastor Scott Smith and Pastor Mark Pitroff co-officiating. Burial is in Wautoma Union Cemetery. No visitation is planned.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
The Leikness Funeral Home of Wautoma, Wautoma, Wisc, took care of arrangements for the family.
