Mike Jones of Palmer passed away due to complications from a brain tumor. He went peacefully from the arms of his loving family into the loving arms of his Lord on Aug. 9, 2008.
Jones was born April 23, 1973 to Mike Sr. and Alene Jones. He was most recently the general manager of Alaska for American Fast Freight and previously owned Jones Leasing/Dump Trucks. He also commercial fished in Bristol Bay and worked for Riverside Auto. He was recognized as one of Alaska’s Top 40 Businessmen Under the Age of 40.
Jones’ family said he enjoyed snowmachining, four wheeling, fishing and camping with his family in their motor home. A good campfire, his wife burning s’mores and his two little boys playing with Tonka trucks and tossing the football meant a great day. His mantra was “There’s no time to sleep, when it’s a good day for a ride!”
“Jones was tough as nails, he never shied from hard decisions or hard work and his word was his honor,” his family wrote. “He had an intense inner drive to achieve in sports, in business and in his family life. He was a strong, true friend; he was a man of faith. He intensely loved his wife and is a hero to his two little boys. He played the game of life like a true man, full of courage and honor. His life was a success! May he rest in peace.”
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alene. He is survived by his wife, Felicia; sons Trevor and Taylor; father Mike Sr.; brother Matt; and grandmother Clara Jones.
