Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Mildred Hazel Campbell, 91, passed away Aug. 4, 2014, in Newport, Washington. She would have been 92 on November 6.
Mildred was born Nov. 6, 1922, in Bancroft, Idaho, to George and Maude Pettingill. She had seven siblings. Her father was a farm worker and sheepherder, and the family moved many, many times. Mildred spent her formative years living throughout Southeast Idaho.
Mildred married William “Bill” Campbell in Paris, Idaho, and the couple had five children: Gary, Clifford, Linda, Dennis and Bill. The family lived in the Burley, Idaho area until 1953 when they moved to Anchorage where they resided for three years until they purchased a dairy farm in Palmer. After retiring, Bill and Mildred moved to Tucson, Arizona where they spent many years. Bill passed away in 1991. Mildred moved to Newport, Washington, in 2012.
Mildred in survived by her younger brother Bill (and Pat) Pettingill of Logan, Utah, Gary (and Velma) Campbell of Newport, Washington, Clifford Campbell of Palmer, Dennis (and Irene) Campbell of Shelley, Idaho, Bill (and Karen) Campbell of Tucson, Arizona, 27 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; six siblings; her daughter, Linda Cottrell; and two grandchildren.
Mildred was instantly loved by all that met and knew her. She will be truly missed.
Services are planned at 11 a.m. Aug. 8 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Priest River, Idaho, and at 11 a.m., Aug 11 at the Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley, Idaho with interment to follow at the Shelley Cemetery.
