Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Palmer resident Milton E. Gilmore died Nov. 15, 2007, of a heart attack while salvaging his burned home. He was 63.
Gilmore was born June 7, 1944 and was a seeker throughout his life. He traveled many paths, from Vietnam in the U.S. Air Force to master pipefitter and welder on the Alaska Pipeline to being a college graduate with a bachelor of arts degree in anthropology to spending 10 years as a plumber at University of Alaska Anchorage.
His passion and life purpose were his family. His is survived by his wife of 28 years, Cynthia Lee, of Palmer; daughters, Sandee Evans and Lauree Strunk of Texas and Natasha Lee-Gilmore of Palmer; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 20 the United Protestant Presbyterian (Old Log Church), 713 S. Denali Street, Palmer. A luncheon reception will follow in the church hall. Pastor Tim Carrick will officiate.
A memorial account has been set up in Gilmore’s name at Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union in Palmer.
