WASILLA — St. David’s Episcopal Church seeks donations of good burnable wood for its decade-old Firewood Ministry.
Last year, families picked up more than 14 cords of firewood from the church to help heat their homes.
The church seeks donations of burnable wood in large rounds, or in any length, but it must be at least 2 inches in diameter. Brush is not accepted. Wood donations must be delivered directly to the church; pick-up service is not available.
Once the wood is delivered to the church, church members will cut, split and stack the wood for distribution. The best burning species are birch and spruce, but aspen and cottonwood are also accepted.
Firewood will be ready for pick up by needy families in September. It is intended for personal use only to help heat homes.
