Moses Lee Bartrow, 87, passed away March 5, 2013, at the Alaska Veterans and Pioneer Home in Palmer.

The service is at 2 p.m., May 19 at Donna Breeden’s house, 5780 East Camborne St. Following the service, a grave-side service is at 4 p.m. at Palmer Pioneer Cemetery.

Moses was born July 8, 1925, in Portland, Ore. He went to high school in Lewiston, Idaho, then served in the Navy from 1943 to 1944. He later moved to Anchorage in 1947. In Anchorage, he was a cab driver then moved to Sand Lake to homestead. Later he moved to Ketchikan and Craig to become a logger.

He retired from logging in 1986. He was a strong member of the Salvation Army, and was a Veteran of Foreign War. He loved to fish, farm, read and he especially loved nature.

Moses spent many years helping Don and Jacque Breeden develop a homestead on Hoffman Road in Anchorage and then dairy farmed near Palmer. He helped his nephew, Rick Breeden, clean land at Point MacKenzie. He is remembered for his warm personality, quiet supportiveness and sense of humor.

Surviving are his sister, Caroline; Alice Miller; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Preceding him in death was his father, Ellis Ulysses Bartrow; mother, Freda Jewel Bartrow; brothers, Robert Jerry Bartrow and Ellis Ulysses Bartrow Jr.; and sisters, LaVera Filicet Breeden and Dolores Jeanette Miller.
