Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Myrtle Alma Lamond, 86, of Palmer, Alaska, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, at her home (Palmer Pioneer Home). She was a retired missionary spending 40 years in ministry with Slavic Gospel and Arctic Missions, (now InterAct Ministries).
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dec. 20, 1929, she was the daughter of Malcolm and Alma Lamond and the oldest of three girls. They grew up in Langhorn, Pennsylvania, and Wildwood, New Jersey, and moved to Hollywood, Florida, for her high school years. She moved to Alaska in 1963 after finishing her Bible College and spent many years in Chignik and Ivanof Bay before moving to Palmer.
She leaves behind her nieces and nephews, Faun, Dale Robin, Debbie, Carolyn, Eileen, PJ and their spouses and their children and grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, at Lazy Mountain Bible Church, Palmer, Alaska. Finger foods and a time of visiting will follow. Any love gifts may be designated to InterAct Ministries Inc., 31000 SE Kelso Rd., Boring, Oregon, 97009, on her behalf.
