A Filipina immigrant who moved to Alaska in 1978 and became a lifelong resident for 44 years. She earned her American Citizenship in 1983 and passed away on February 17 2022. Nancy was born in the Philippines on November 2, 1951. She immigrated to Anchorage, Alaska in 1978 and married her pen pal Robert Clawson in 1979. Nancy and Robert moved to Palmer in 1983 with their three sons and daughter. During her time in Palmer, Nancy worked at the Palmer Pioneer Home earning the position of head chef. Nancy is survived by her four children, Pedro Patrick Cortez, Marion Cortez, Caroline Lindamood and Joseph Clawson; as well as her 9 grandchildren, Elijah Cortez, Jonah Cortez, Kelsey Cortez, Ethan Cortez, Chloe Cortez, Kashawn Gold, Cameron Gold, Ellie Sharlow, and Daisie Clawson, and her great grandchild Rini Hetke. The funeral will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 432 E Fireweed Ave, Palmer, AK 99645. The viewing will be at 10:00 am with a mass/service at 12:10 pm. The burial will be held at Palmer Pioneer Cemetery after the service followed by a reception back at the church.
