Nancy Darlene (Thayer) Van Asdoll
On June 20th, 2021, Nancy Darlene (Thayer) Van Asdoll said her final goodbyes at Providence Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was 81.
Nancy was born December 24th, 1939, in Lansing, Michigan. She was the daughter of Leslie and Geraldine Thayer. In 1976, Nancy moved to Alaska where she finally settled in Palmer. She was a well-known bartender at several local establishments with many lifelong patrons. Nancy had the biggest heart and often took in strays that became part of the family.
Nancy is survived by her three children, Cindy Jo, Donald Leslie (Buddy), and Kelley Lynn and former spouse, Donna Jean; her seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; her two sisters and brother, Toni Skyard, Patricia and Jerry Palek; along with many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Geraldine; her brother, Richard; her niece, Tracy; and brother-in-law, Doug Skyard.
A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion Post 35 on July 25th at 3 pm. The family will be holding a potluck following the celebration and welcomes any dishes to be brought.
