Nancy Elaine Navrot passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 5th, 2022 in Palmer, Alaska at the age of 79. Nancy was born in Portland, Oregon to Kenneth and Bernice Moore. She graduated from Madison High School, in 1960. Shortly after high school Nancy met Pete Yannikos. They married and moved to Greece for three years, with her son Phillip. They returned to Portland where Melina was born. Pete moved to Sitka for work, then Nancy and the family followed. Kenneth and Michelle were born in Sitka. Nancy made many lifelong friendships while in Sitka.

In 1973, Nancy and Pete moved to Palmer, where Pete built a house and worked on the pipeline, while Nancy raised the kids. She got a kiln and she made pottery and other artistic projects. They built a barn and had horses on the property at the top of Bailey Hill in Palmer. In 1980 Pete and Nancy divorced. Nancy met Robert Navrot and they married. Nancy, Robert, Pete and Linda shared the duties of raising their children.

Nancy and Robert purchased property and built a house in Sutton. They were active members of the Morgan Horse Association, had a farm, raised their horses and the children on over 200 acres in Sutton. They raised over 20 Morgan horses on the property at any time.

In 1987 Katharina was born. Katharina cared for Nancy the last years of her life and was with her to the end, with Katharina’s husband Preston. They were married a few weeks prior to Nancy’s passing, which gave Nancy great happiness.

Nancy had a passion for Alaska. Her greatest pride was her family. She had a beautiful smile, a love for horses, and valued her many friendships she made during her adventurous life.
