Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Nancy Hollingsworth died peacefully at home with family on Jan. 3 after a long battle with brain cancer.
Nancy was born in Roseburg, Ore., on July 7, 1934 the fifth of seven children. She moved to Alaska in 1955 with her husband and son, Rich, to help run a supply boat for logging camps in Southeast Alaska. She lived in Petersburg, Fairbanks, Anchorage and the Palmer/Wasilla area. Nancy enjoyed anything outdoors such as gardening, hiking, gold mining and hunting. She was always ready for any new adventure. One of her greatest joys was helping to raise her grandson, Kolten.
She is survived by her children, Rich Hollingsworth and longtime companion, Jeanette Mandycz of Florida, Roxie and Dale Majeske of Wasilla, Ron and Melissa Hollingsworth of Wasilla and Jim Hollingsworth of Eagle River; she is also survived by two brothers, two sisters, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Faith Bible Fellowship, 14159 W. Hollywood Road in Big Lake. A potluck gathering will immediately follow the services at Roxie and Dale Majeske’s residence. Additional memorial services will be held in Riddle, Ore., at a later date.
