Nancy Kay Hall Root

November 19, 1941 - July 10, 2025

On July 10, at the age of 83, Nancy Kay Hall Root peacefully returned to her loving Heavenly father and her eternal companion Bill surrounded by her family.

Known simply as Kay to all how knew and loved her. She surprised many later in life when they learned her first name was Nancy. Kay was the name she wore proudly her entire life.

Kay was born to Cal and Betty Hall in Worland Wyoming.

In 1961, Kay moved to Alaska with her family, and on her very first day there, she met the love of her life, William "Bill" Lindsay Root Sr. More than anything, Kay wanted to be a mother, and together, she and Bill built a vibrant and loving family of 10 Children: Rochelle (Doug) Bushey, William "Bill" Root Jr., Karen Fager, David Root, Shere (Todd) Perkins, Martie Jarvis, Russell (Kristina) Root, Richard Root, Debra (Tyler) Fuelling, and Julienne (Brandon) Pixton.

Though Kay and Bill lived many places over the years, they always found their way back to their beloved Alaska. Her life was defined by love, faith, resilience and service. More than anything she loved it when all her family was together.

Kay loved her family deeply and lived her faith fully. A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served two missions the first as a young adult in Casper, Wyoming, and later a family history mission with her husband at her side.

Kay was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her husband, Bill Sr., her brother Billy, her sister Ann Tappana, her grandson Chandler Holtz, and great granddaughter Demi Rose Miller. She is survived by her sister, Beverly Mitchell, her brother Butch (Theresa) Hall, her 10 children, 38 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren.

Graveside services for Kay will be held 2 p.m. Saturday July 19, 2025 at the Kenai Cemetery 1110 1st Ave, Kenai AK.
