Neil Patrick Guggenmos
Palmer resident Neil Patrick Guggenmos, 47, passed away into the arms of Jesus His Savior, in Eagle River, Alaska May 1, 2019, while on the Eagle River Nature Trail.
Neil was born on December 12, 1971 in Sioux City, Iowa to Linda and Harry Goodwin. He graduated from Sioux City East High School in 1990. He attended the University Of Iowa, but Graduated from The Moody Bible Institute of Chicago, Illinois, in 1995, with a Bachelor’s of Theology Degree. He married Kara Lindstrom in Sioux City, Iowa on July 30, 1994. Neil worked at several important government jobs before moving to work for Harris Corporation in Anchorage. Prior to living in Alaska, he resided in Iowa, Illinois, Montana and Colorado. Neil loved movies, hiking, fishing, bear watching, attending and routing on his beloved sons in their sports and being with Kara in anyway possible. Above all he loved Jesus and loved to teach classes to help people grow in Christ. His Lord of the Rings class lives in infamy. Neil was a brave-hearted warrior. He fought everyday for the spiritual and physical lives of his wife, his amazing sons, himself and quite frankly, anyone in the family who was in need of any kind. This world was not worthy of him. Heaven now holds him and he is more alive today than ever.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bernard and Florence Guggenmos, Jim and Dorothy Cardwell, Corrine (Theo “Buck”) Goodwin; and his aunt Nan Ellwanger.
Left to cherish Neil are his wife Kara Guggenmos; his three sons Luke, Landon, and Noah; his mother and father Linda (Dave) Guggenmos; his biological father, Harry (Cindy) Goodwin; his brother Jeff (Melisa) Guggenmos; and his father and mother in law, Larry and Maren Lindstrom. Neil also has numerous brother and sister in laws, aunts, uncles and cousins and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held May 11 at 2:00 PM at Church on the Rock, 619 Scott Rd, in Palmer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Neil Guggenmos Memorial Fund, by visiting your local Wells Fargo Bank and asking about the fund.
