Nels had a zest for life and always had a smile on his face. He lived every day to its fullest. He has worked building Alaska since he moved from Washington in 2001. He first came to Alaska to commercial fish in Nelson Lagoon. He came to Wasilla to visit his cousin and fell in love with Alaska and all it had to offer. He moved his wife and daughter up the next year and built their life together. He started his handyman business in 2003, his second daughter was born in 2005 at which time he started his specialty contracting business. He named the business ARA Contracting after his wife and daughters. He had the opportunity to go skydiving this past year, which he had wanted to do for as long as he could remember! He said it was one of the best days of his life. He was a wonderful husband who cared for his family deeply and his daughters considered him their hero. He will be missed by all the people he met especially his family and close friends. The world lost a great man the day Nels Moen Oie passed. He is our angel now.
Nels is survived by his wife Rachael, his daughters Alexis and Alyssa; his parents, Rob and Bridgett; sister, Tiffany and family; brother, Thoren and family, and numerous family and friends that he considered family.
