Though there is fresh snow on the ground and holiday shopping to do, it isn’t too early to think about the upcoming college term at Mat-Su College (MSC). Spring registration is open at MSC and classes are already filling up. Spring classes start on January 13 and with the new year you can make a new start.
MSC offers a wide range of classes. MaryCatherine Harmon, MSC Director of Academic Affairs says, “Whether you’re looking to gain new skills, dive into a fresh subject, or meet like-minded peers, now’s your chance to expand your horizons and make this semester unforgettable.”

Sociology A201: Social Problems and Solutions
Do you want to really understand the challenges our society is facing? In this course you can engage in discussion and critique so you can reflect on what matters most to you in your community and help be the change we really need.
WRTG A212: Writing and the Professions
When we write in professional situations, we need to thoroughly understand our audience, purpose, and context. This course looks at the different genres you are most likely to encounter in professional environments, including proposals and feasibility studies, as well as some of the research techniques you'll need to persuade your audiences.

British literature has been a powerful force in how cultures around the world view themselves. For example, how has imperial literature impacted how we see power and its relation to other cultures? Literature is part of the very fabric of who we are in any society, and this course will study the intersection of power and text in British literature.
WRTG A213: Writing and the Sciences
This course will help you understand the conventions and expectations of different discourse communities. Scientific writing in particular covers a wide spectrum of disciplines, all of which draw off of different conventions... learn to navigate these conventions in literature reviews, critiques, and analyses.
