Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Noma C. (Hall) Poole, 79, died on July 23, 2012, at her home in Wasilla due to cancer.
Bishop Terry Richardson will officiate at a celebration of life ceremony at 2 p.m., Aug. 2 at 9475 E. Colony Schools Drive in Wasilla. The family will scatter her ashes at a private lakeside ceremony July 29 at Wasilla Lake.
Noma was born March 19, 1933, in Rutland, Vt., to George G. Hall and Myra Hall.
Noma moved to Alaska in May 1957. She lived in Eagle River from 1965-70, then made Wasilla her home from 1970-2012. Noma was a manager and partnered with her husband in running Chalet Homes, a construction company based in Wasilla from 1973-99.
She was baptized Mormon as a child in St. Johnsbury, Vt. She enjoyed knitting, landscaping, staining glass, pincushion dolls, ceramics and collecting antique rolling pins.
“Noma was a loving wife, friend and mother,” her family wrote. “She was strong in her opinions, and usually right. She loved Alaska, the mountains and the great outdoors. Noma was loved and will be missed by many.”
Surviving are her husband, Robert L. Poole of Wasilla; brother, Merrill “Buddy” Hall of Granite City, Ill.; sons, Tracy L. Poole of Wasilla and David G. Poole of Willow; daughter, Roilean Rummel of Quincy, Calif.; granddaughter, Rebecca A. Rummel of Portland, Ore.; and grandsons, Ryan O. Rummel and his wife Brandy of Palmer, and Keith A. Poole of Summerville, S.C.
Preceding her in death were her parents, George G. Hall and Myra Hall; sisters, Evelyn Tidd and Billie Irwin; and brother, Dana Hall.
