Nominations are sought for this year’s “Summer of Heroes” program, sponsored by Alaska Communications and Boys & Girls Clubs — Alaska.
For the third year, the program will recognize five Alaskan youths ages 6 to 18 who are making a difference in their communities. Nominates are due by July 22 and forms are available online at bit.ly/11grBKj, or at an Alaska Communications retail store, or Boys & Girls Clubs — Alaska Clubhouse.
Winners receive a $1,500 scholarship and a trip to the Alaska State Fair. Last summer, Keefer Brown was picked to represent the Summer of Heroes program in the Mat-Su Borough. He continues to live his passion for marine life through volunteer work at the Alaska SeaLife Center.
In addition, Alaska Communications also will donate $25 to Boys & Girls Clubs — Alaska, up to $15,000 total, for every smartphone sold through July 22.
