Nominations sought for volunteer awards

First Lady Sandy Parnell reminds Alaskans that nominations are due March 1 for the 2013 First Lady’s Volunteer of the Year Awards.

Founded by First Lady Bella Hammond, the program invites Alaskans to recognize fellow Alaska residents who have shown extraordinary volunteer service and made a positive impact in their communities.

An executive committee made up of Alaskans from around the state will select winners, who will be recognized at a ceremony in May.

For more information, visit 1.usa.gov/UNkHNX. Nomination forms also are available at the Capitol in Juneau or at the governor’s regional offices in Anchorage and Fairbanks.
