A funeral for Nora Jean York, 58, will be Tuesday at 10 a.m., at Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Aurora Cemetery.
Nora died Nov. 14, 2009, at her Wasilla residence. She was born Feb. 13, 1951, in Boise, Idaho. Nora had lived in Fairbanks, Anchorage and Willow.
Nora had attended Charter College for insurance billing and office manager courses. She was a board member of Identity of Alaska and supported various groups working for equal rights. Nora enjoyed computers, archery, shooting and various crafts.
According to her family, “Nora loved animals of all sizes. She was always ready to lend a hand. She kept a nice place to live for her companion and was devoted to her pets.”
Nora is survived by her companion, Kane W. Basie of Wasilla.
