Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Norman Fredrick Dietz, 85, passed away on Sept. 20, 2014, at home in Palmer Alaska.
Norman was born on April 16 1929, in Highland Park, Michigan, to Louis and Betty Dietz. Norman joined the Army and served his country for 3 years in Germany. After the Army Norman became a journeyman welder and worked for the Alaska Railroad. Norman then Retired from Alaska Railroad in 1993.
Norman and his wife Barbara have been members of St. John Lutheran Church for many years and have had great memories with their pastor Jonathan Rockey. Norman also loves to fish, and create stained glass artwork. He always loved rooting for his Chicago Cubs.
Norman was a loving husband and father, an inspiration to countless others and courageous to the end. Norman is survived by his wife Barbara Dietz; children Shawn, Crystal and Kimberly; brother and sister-in-law Bobby and Robin Watkins; and niece and nephew Brandon and Tabitha.
Norman’s service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, 440 E. Elmwood Ave Palmer AK, on September 27, 2014 at 4 p.m. He will be buried at Angelus Valley Memorial Park following the service.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kehl’s Palmer Mortuary.
