Norman Ross passed away quietly while sleeping in his loving wife’s arms on June 19 in North Carolina, at the age of 91. A long time resident of Palmer, Norm moved to North Carolina in January. A memorial service was held Sunday with a 21-gun salute and taps to honor his long military career in the Air Force, in which he retired as an E9-Chief Master Sergeant.
Norm, born March 23, 1918, is survived by his wife, Sue Ross, along with children and grandchildren who loved him. Norm wanted his loved ones to smile when they saw a rainbow, a beautiful sunset or the wonder upon the face of a child. He did not want hearts heavy with sadness, but wanted people to smile and live life to its fullest, knowing he was now “home,” loved and safe. He will be missed by many.
