Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

I show up at the sports center yesterday afternoon for my training session Bill and Bill wasn’t there. Still aching from the day before it would have been easy to turn right around and walk out the door.
Almost did.
Almost.
Instead, I dragged my behind up to the track and did my walking and even did a few laps around the center and could really feel the stairs burn my thighs after a little while. I called this exercise “where’s Bill,” because the first lap was looking to see if he were in another part of the building. I did the second lap because I was following the smell of popcorn (shouldn’t it be illegal to have a movie theater-style popcorn machine in a health club?), then I did it again because it seemed more interesting than going around the same track over and over.
Anyway, I’ll be the first to admit my Trim to Win experience is off to a slow start. I’m eating better food and less, but I’m still struggling with changing my eating patterns (want to know what those are, you’ll have to read previous blogs). I’ve consumed enough water to sink the Titanic again, but still have trouble getting a good night’s sleep.
Changing gears …
Don’t know how it is at your place of work, but at the Frontiersman there’s a little cabinet outside the office manager’s office. The top of this cabinet is the “Frontiersman Snack-O-Matic,” where everyone places their plates of cookies, fudge and there’s still a box full of candy leftover from Halloween Hallow.
Today, the evil spirits left a big bag of potato chips on the Snack-O-Matic. Salt and vinegar flavor. My favorite.
Did I mention the office manager’s office is next to mine, and that I can’t get to my office without walking right past the Snack-O-Matic?
So, on the same day, I walked right past the temptation of free potato chips and didn’t cheat myself out of a workout. Feeling pretty good.
That, and a reader posted what looks like and awesome recipe for salsa chicken, and this has been a pretty good day.
Later, Winners!
