WASILLA — Another new business is coming to The Shoppes at Sun Mountain, adding to downtown Wasilla’s ever-growing shopping district.

Nuvision Federal Credit Union recently broke ground for their upcoming Wasilla branch, which is the first stand-alone location in the state.

“We’re really excited,” Nuvision CEO Roger Ballard said.

Several community members and city officials joined Nuvision for the Wasilla groundbreaking Sept. 7.

Nuvision merged with Denali Federal Credit Union in 2018, and this new branch completes the transition, according to a recent press release. Ballard said they’re bringing Denali’s continued commitment to serving the Valley since 2005 while expanding its investment in the community.

“We’re here to provide our members with the best experience and services that are in their best interest,” Ballard said. “The whole Mat-Su area is really growing, so we see a lot of opportunities there.”

Ballard said they anticipate opening the Wasilla branch by June of 2022.

“We’re moving dirt and starting to build right now,” Ballard said.

The Wasilla branch will be located within the Sun Mountain shopping district, near Sonic, Sportsman’s Warehouse, and Krispy Kreme.
