Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

O.J. “Jack” Jiles, 91, died Feb. 9, 2012, at his home in Wasilla with his wife Patricia by his side.
He was born Oct. 3, 1920, in Griggs, Okla., to Aljoina and Laura (Keylon) Jiles.
Jack’s request was for cremation and no services are planned at this time. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1946, where he received an American Theater Service Medal and also a Good Conduct Medal.
He worked for himself in Alaska’s construction industry and helped build the Alaska pipeline.
His family said he enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing the guitar and flying small airplanes. Jack will be remembered by his family as a man who was very witty and who always had a joke to share with his family and friends on any topic.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia; sons, Donald Jiles, and William and daughter-in-law Deborah, all of California; daughters, Janeen and son-in-law Larry Weisz of Wasilla, and Debra Yoast of California; grandsons, Jiles Weisz of Texas, and Andrew and Kristina Weisz of Wasilla; granddaughters, Jenna Weisz of Colorado and Meaghan Jiles of California.
Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory Wasilla cared for the family.
