Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Longtime Alaska artist Otis “Scott” McDaniel, 86, died Dec. 17, 2012, at Alaska Native Medical Center surrounded by family and friends.
He was born June 26, 1926.
Scott painting the beauty of Alaska’s great outdoors for more than 60 years. He and his wife, Maxine, came to Alaska in 1948. After homesteading in Kenny Lake, the couple moved to Anchorage, where they made their home and raised their family for the past 65 years.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Maxine, in 2004.
Surviving are his five children, Dawna Meade (husband Charles Meade), Richard Scott (wife Dorothy), Debra McGhan, Timothy Ray and Diane Johnson (husband Jerry Johnson); grandchildren, Dee Chasse, David McDaniel, Allen McGhan, Jeremiah Meade, Jeffrey McDaniel, Michelle Winsor, Erin Johnson, Jonathan Nesbit McDaniel and Joel Johnson; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Dec. 20 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 8110 Jewel Lake Road. A celebration of life is in June 2013.
