Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Patricia Ann Tovsen, 70, died Feb. 19, 2010, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center of complications from cancer.
A service was held Feb. 24 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Palmer with Father Nelson Marilag officiating.
Patricia was born Oct. 7, 1939, in Gary, Ind. She graduated from Merrillville High School in 1957.
She became an Alaska resident in 1977 and resided in Anchorage from 1977 to 1979, then Palmer/Wasilla from 1979 until her passing.
Patricia was a checker at Carrs from 1984 to 1990 and a special-needs bus driver for Laidlaw from 1991 to 2001, when she retired.
Her family states, “Pat was a generous soul. She loved her grandchildren and spoiled them terribly. She was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. She will be missed.”
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Monica Tovsen; daughter Rebecca Tovsen and James Anderson; and daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Shane Groth; grandchildren are Eric, Jaryd, Coleman, Victoria, Tristan, Lance, Logan and Luke; sisters and brothers, Donna and Ray Doherty, Jane and Tom Earp, Janet and Steve Maggard, Susan Oetting, Michael and Marilyn Halsted.
Arrangements were entrusted to Legacy Funeral Homes and Cremation Services — Kehl’s Palmer Chapel.
