Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Patricia Lynn Phillips (Palmer), 65, of Big Lake, Alaska passed away with loved ones by her side, on Oct. 23, 2017, after a brief illness.
Patti was born Oct. 9, 1952, in Anchorage to John “Jack” Palmer and Marilyn Defoe. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jerry Phillips.
She leaves behind her five children; Jesse(s) Denny and Karma, Justin(s) and Megan Denny, Saralyn(d) and Derek Trimmer, Coal Phillips(s) and Tessa Thompson, Mindy Phillips(d) and daughter in laws Cara Jones, Taryn Howell and son in law Chad Howell. She was a beloved grandmother to 16 grandchildren: Haliegh, Khaira, Coby, Jasmine, Emmalee, Hayden, Justin, Colin, Brian, Trinity, Molly, Evan, Brayden, Bella, Khristian and Dean. As well as four great grandchildren. She is survived by her brothers Richard Pierce (Washington), Mike Palmer (Alaska) and sister Debbie Horner (West Virginia). She made an impression on many children in her life and she had many close friends that will miss her dearly.
She enjoyed being with her family, gardening, cooking, entertaining, teaching her grandchildren her recipes and spending time with her dogs Coco and Honey. She will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life will be held at the Grandview Inn and suites at 5 p.m. on Friday Nov. 3, 2017. 2900 E. Parks Highway Wasilla, Alaska. In lieu of flowers please bring a gift to donate to our local charities to be distributed during this holiday season.
