Patricia “Patty” Marie Brooks went home to Heavenly Father on August 15, 2016, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center at the age of 64. Patty was affectionately known as “Mom” to all who knew and loved her. She was born on May 5, 1952 in East Orange, New Jersey to Louis Patton and Patricia Kluting. Mom later moved to New Mexico where, at the age of 21, she met and married the love of her life, Dean Crouch. Patty and Dean traveled to Alaska in the 1970’s, making Alaska their home. Mom was a woman of strong Christian faith who loved to listen to her Bible on tape, she was an avid reader, she was a skilled and contemplative connoisseur of words and their meanings, she was a wonderful cook who enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, and her life was punctuated by her ability to give love, understanding, and a listening ear to anyone in need. Her family fondly said of her, “she loved immensely and with her whole heart, and she loved and accepted anyone she met.” While her life was difficult at times, she was always a mother to her children, teaching them, loving them, guiding them, and supporting them along the way. Mom would often sing the Beatles’ song “When I’m 64” with her children, and her children said, “While we still need you, we understand heaven needs you more, and now you are free.” Mom will be deeply missed and remembered by all who had the opportunity to know and love her, and her family finds peace and comfort in the knowledge she is finally together again with her beloved husband in heaven.
