Age 69, left this world for the next on March 4, 2019, in Georgetown, Texas.
At age 20 he drove to Alaska, ending his trek in Palmer. He worked at Hartley Motors, MTA, and was aircraft mechanic at Matanuska Air Service. He met his wife, Sharon Ortner, and took her flight seeing on their first date. They lived in Skagway, where Pat held an assortment of jobs on the White Pass and Yukon Railway and learned to sail on Lynne Canal. They moved to Kennicott and lived in an abandoned house by the glacier, working summers for Kennicott Glacier Lodge. They returned to Palmer to raise a family. Pat built a beautiful home while working at the Department of Transportation in Anchorage, holding a “Jack of all trades” assortment of positions there until his retirement. He lived in Hawaii and then in Texas, living on a boat he was restoring at the time of his death. Pat was a kind man, and a connoisseur of sourdough toast and chocolate drink.
He leaves behind his wife Sharon; Son Lee; Daughter Gala; and their families, including 5 grandchildren that loved grandpa’s jokes.
