Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Paul Joseph Kovarik, 49, died on Nov. 9, 2010, in Anchorage.
Services are at noon, Nov. 29, at Farm Loop Christian Center, 5900 N. Farm Loop Rd., Palmer. Graveside services will follow at Aurora Cemetery in Wasilla. A potluck gathering is at 4 p.m. at the Church Hall in Farm Loop Christian Center.
Officiating is Pastor John Wilson. Pallbearers are Justin, Kevin, Charlie, Ron, Dick and Larry.
Paul Joseph Kovarik was born Nov. 20 1960, in Portland, Ore. He attended high school in Oregon. Following high school he served two years in the Army. Paul worked logging, firefighting and roofing when he lived in Oregon. In 1996 Paul relocated to Anchorage. He lived in Anchorage for 10 years before he moved to Wasilla, where he lived for the remainder of his life. His most recent occupation was truck driver for K&L Distributors in Anchorage. Paul was a member of Farm Loop Christian Center in Palmer. He enjoyed working with wood on a scroll saw, fishing and taking walks with his sheepdog.
“Paul was a loving and generous man who loved his family. He was happiest when exploring Alaska with his wife Debbie, and spending time with his new grandson, Wolfgang. He loved working his farm and spending time with his alpacas and chickens. He enjoyed long conversations with his brother, Mark and fishing with his many friends. Working on cars with his son Justin held a special place in his heart. His life was an inspiration to all who knew him,” his family said.
Paul is survived by his wife, Debbie; son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Krystal; brother, Mark; sister-in-law and husband, Marie and Charlie; son, Cody; nieces, Jessi and Brandy; nephews, Joseph and Kevin; and grandson, Wolfgang. He is survived by in-laws Joe and Betsy and his many friends in Anchorage and the Valley.
Funeral arrangements were by Kehl’s Palmer Mortuary.
