Paul Robert Semonin, 74, lost his battle with cancer on June 7, 2017. Paul was born to Lloyd A. Semonin and Molly Krill on June 27, 1942 in Akron, Ohio. He was the oldest of six boys and did his best to see to it life was never dull.
After graduating from Hoban High School in Akron, he joined the Air Force, where he became a Chinese linguist and spent time in Korea. He later received a degree in cartography.
In 1972, he found work in Alaska and it became home. He loved surveying and mapping, where he made dear friendships that remain to this day. He married Joyce Hurd in 1979 and became the father of Matthew Lloyd and Stephanie Kay.
Paul is survived by wife Joyce, children Matthew(Angela) and Stephanie, grandchildren Arianna, Alexis, and Makaden, brothers Fr. James, Joseph, Mark(Lynn), and John(Margo) Semonin, and many dear extended families and friends.
He was greeted in heaven by his parents, brother William, niece Melissa Semonin, and numerous aunts and uncles.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 16th, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Michaels church in Palmer. Interment will be at Elmendorf National Cemetery on Monday, June 19th, at 3:00 p.m. A Wake will be held at the Palmer Elks on June 27th.
