Paul Vincent Lucier

Lifelong Alaskan Paul Vincent Lucier, 57, died Dec. 12, 2014, at his home in Willow.

Paul was born Feb. 18, 1957, in Fairbanks to Grace and Charles Lucier. He moved with his family to Anchorage in 1958. He graduated from Dimond High School in 1975.

Paul worked as a Driller at Exploration Supply & Equipment in Beluga from 1978-1989. He worked as a Dispatcher and Safety/IT Manager at AnchorRIDES from 1992-2009.

In 1981, Paul married Shawn Harless, with whom he had two children. While they went their separate ways in 1997, they remained friends.

Paul was retired but looked forward to spending the summers as the Announcer at Capitol Speedway in Willow where he loved the sound of the engines screaming, dirt flying, crowds cheering and sitting around the campfire at the day’s end.

Paul will be remembered for his kind, caring and genuine heart, and his sense of humor. He loved cats, writing poetry, listening to classic rock ‘n roll and blues, and dirt track racing. He approached life with the attitude of, “No Worries. No big Deal. No Problem.”

Paul is survived by his children, Alyson Tuomi (Justin) of Wasilla and Travis Lucier (Nichole) of Burke, VA, former wife and mother of his children, Shawn Lyle (Kelly), his grandchildren, Eli, Jackson and Abbe Tuomi, John Webb and Kiana Lucier, sister, Panu Lucier (Mark), nieces and nephew, Lori Gage (Dustin), Melissa Walls and Matthew Walls, great niece and nephews, Nicholas, Hannah and Zachary Gage and Evan Walls, Aunt Evelyn Hendrickson and Uncle Gordon Nagozruk, numerous cousins and many friends. He is also survived by former spouses, Tami Spurlock and Cheryl Troutman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Grace Lucier, grandparents, Frederick Lucier, Juanita Bagby and Arthur and Lucy Nagozruk Sr.
