Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Palmer resident Pauline Katherine Schaller, 90, passed away Aug. 16, 2014, of natural causes at Among Friends Assisted Living.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Schaller was born Aug. 23, 1923, in Midland, Michigan, to Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Krenzke. She graduated from Mercy Central School of Nursing in Detroit, Michigan in 1946. She married Winfred Schaller on June 10, 1947, in Midland, Michigan.
Mrs. Schaller was a career registered nurse, working various positions in and around southern California. She retired from the Riverside County Public Health Department in 1985.
She spent her retirement living near her children in Northern California, Wyoming and finally Alaska since 2009.
She enjoyed playing Bridge, working crossword puzzles and spending time with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family wrote, “Pauline was a faithful, hard working and dedicated Christian wife, mother and grandmother.”
She is survived by two sons, John of Cody, Wyoming, Daniel (Debby) of Rapid City, South Dakota; three daughters, Patricia Schaller of Kansas City, Missouri, Susan Schaller of Berkeley, California and Kathryn Johnson (David) of Palmer; 18 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred and son, Philip.
