Peggy M. Hudspeth

Peggy M. Hudspeth, 62, died Aug. 8 at home in Houston after suffering a heart attack.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Aug. 20 at Our Lady of the Lake Church on South Big Lake Road in Big Lake.

Hudspeth was born June 30, 1945, in Greencreek, Idaho. She came to Alaska in 1983 and settled in Houston. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.

She was a wife and mother who centered her life around her family and friends. She enjoyed being with her husband, children, grandson, extended family and her dogs, who were also like children. She went out of her way for others, always lending a helping hand and offering kind words of encouragement in times of need.

Hudspeth loved to celebrate birthdays and holidays with all her children and any extended family she could gather - the more, the better. She also enjoyed family get-togethers, gardening, sewing, shopping, Red Hat Society events and attending church. She cared for her children and took special care of them when they were sick.

Special people in Peggy Hudspeth's life were the love of her life, her husband Steve; sister-in-law Susan McElroy; children Aaron Hudspeth, Karen (John) Johnson, Sharon (Ernie) Orloff; grandson Joshua Cox; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents Zita and August Wemhoff and sister Betty Clow.
