Spencer K. Hill, 73, died June 23 at his Wasilla home from natural causes.

A celebration of life for Spencer will be held on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Aviation Museum, 4721 Aircraft Drive in Anchorage, with Chaplain Boyd Waltman officiating. A reception will follow.

Spencer was born Jan. 15, 1936, in Wayne, Mich. He graduated from high school, attended two years of college, and served three years in the Navy. He was employed as an aviation safety inspector with the Federal Aviation Administration in Anchorage from 1971 to 2007.

He came to Alaska in 1961, and spent the rest of his lifetime in Alaska. He made his home in Wasilla.

Spencer was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He worked on election boards and was president of his homeowners association.

Spencer had many interests and talents including building model airplanes, cars and trains. He also was an accomplished photographer and painter. He loved to travel and tending his garden.

His family said: “He was an accomplished pilot and was well-known in the aviation community. He touched the lives of many people and had many friends. He will be greatly missed by his family and numerous friends and will remain in our hearts forever.”

Surviving are his wife, Carol Hill; sons, Steve, Mark and Kenny Hill; daughters, Lorri Hill and Kim Kier; step-daughter, Patricia Partsch; step-sons, Bill and Michael Munson; sisters and brothers-in-law, JoAnn and Robert Tucker and Judy and Preston Whitford; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and other extended family. He was looking forward to the arrival of his eighth great-grandchild

Arrangements are with Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Wasilla.
