Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Chickaloon Tribal Citizen, Penny Lee (Harrison) Westing, 64, passed away at home in Palmer, Alaska on November 14, 2018.
Penny was born April 23, 1954 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Reta Ann Hubbard and Louis Raymond Harrison. She and her mother came back to Alaska in 1954 when she was six weeks old. She worked in many arenas but was well-known as a Chickaloon Village Traditional Council Member and ICWA Case Manager.
Her calling was in keeping families together and enjoyed crocheting, reading and Facebook. She had a talent for taking the most unflattering pictures and posting it for everyone to see.
She is survived by her mother, Reta; five brothers, Timothy (Helen), Gary, David (Dusty), Bruce and Donald Ray; her five children, Ricky (Jennifer), Renae, Christina (Clay), Samantha (Steven) and Christian; ten grandchildren, Joshua, Jarek, Andrew, Chance, Divinity, Denali, Shanae, Adaline, Kallina and Sofie; four great grandchildren, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Penny was preceded in death by her father, Louis Raymond Sr.; her brother, Louis Raymond Jr.; and grandson, Gage.
Burial to take place in Chickaloon at 2pm on Saturday, November 24, 2018. Memorial will be held at 4pm, at Chickaloon Village’s Ya Ne Dah Ah School, 9109 N Glenn Highway, Palmer, Alaska, with a Potlatch to follow at 6pm.
The family asks that donations be made to Ya Ne Dah Ah School, PO Box 1105 Chickaloon, AK 99674, in lieu of flowers.
