Healy resident Peter Patrick Wansor, 64, died April 10, 2011, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center. A Catholic Mass is at 2 p.m., April 19, at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Palmer. A potluck reception will follow at the Palmer Elks Lodge just off Bogard Road in Finger Lake.
Pete was born in Rockerville Centre, N.Y., on Feb. 10, 1947. The family moved to Sutton in 1961. His last 10 years were spent in Healy.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Thomas and Charles, and sister Patricia. Surviving are his wife, Jeanne Grasser; brothers, Robert, Daniel and his partner William Aloes, and Michael and wife Connie; daughters, Gretchen Linsey and her daughter Ashley Linsey of Palmer, and Nicole Hopkins of Idaho and husband Will, and their children Clinton and Catherine Hopkins; and, aunt Frances Banish of Sutton.
Pete loved hunting, fishing, gardening and cooking. His favorite stories were of his hunting excursions with family and friends. One of his favorite pastimes was to tease his wife, Jeanne, and they both would get a good laugh about it. He had a passion for wildlife and animals, large and small.
