Peter Wilson

July 20, 1952 - January 12, 2025

Pete Wilson passed away January 12th, in Wasilla, Alaska.

With the stubborn streak that he had, he fought the devil-colon-cancer, until he couldn't fight anymore.

Raised in a family of roadbuilders, Pete lived all over Alaska -- wherever the road was being built.

He was an outdoorsman his entire life. He loved the mountains, rivers, woods and living in it. Being an avid hunter, fisherman and explorer, he had every sort of run-in you could imagine -- with critters, machines, and people!

Pete worked as a Cat-Skinner for 302 Operators until he was 35, when a snowmachine accident left him disabled, but he didn't let that stop him from living in his cabin at Chickaloon and continuing his woodsman lifestyle.

Ten years ago, he moved into Wasilla, back to the roots of his kin. As the cold winters and age came upon him, he discovered that he liked the comfort of a Toyo stove and indoor plumbing more than he thought he would.

He went back and forth from Wasilla to Chickaloon after that. The best of both worlds in his eyes, growing his garden in Wasilla and livin' the dream at his cabin.

Pete will be remembered by us all, by either the escapade we got in, or the escapade we got out of -- with him along.

He is survived by his sister, Debbie Parsons of Sutton Alaska, sister Patti-Ann Wilson, and brother Larkin Wilson; his nieces; Atlantis McFadden-Yancey, Jennye Wilson, Isabella Hyde, Autum and Celeste Johnson all of Wasilla, AK.

Pete was preceded in death by his mother Patti Plack Wilson, dad Dick Wilson, youngest brother Dana Wilson, Uncle Phil Plack and more recently, his aunt Phyllis "Nugget" Wilson and brother-in-law, Steve Yancey.

A private ceremony will be held in the spring in the Valley. Any condolences or contact to the family, can be emailed to: alaskawisewoman@gmail.com and/or pattiannwilson@yahoo.com.
