Wasilla resident Phillip R. West died Sept. 7, 2010. He was 55.
Phil was born Nov. 1, 1954 in Brockton, Mass., and moved to Alaska in 1962. He is survived by his parents, Cliff and Ernestine Alexander of Sterling.
Phil proudly served his country in the Army until 1975. In 1987, Phil started his own business, Bran-Dee Enterprises, which he named after his daughters. Phil always worked hard to provide for his family.
Phil is survived by his wife, Donna West of Wasilla; daughters, Brandi West and DeAndra West-Inman of California; stepsons, Ian Higgins and Airman 1st Class Collin Higgins; sister, Marsha Barton; nephew, Joshua West of Utah; and niece, Katie Day of North Carolina.
His family said that more than anything, he loved his family. He enjoyed shrimping out of Whittier, fishing the Kenai Keys and Kachemak Bay, riding his Harley in the summer, moose hunting in the fall and driving his 18-wheeler year-round. His favorite escape was being with his wife at their property on the Ninilchik bluff.
“We will never know how many lives he touched over the years, but we will always hold tight to the memories that we will never forget,” the family wrote.
