Phyllis L. Hinton, 90, died Jan. 16, 2013, at her home in Wasilla from natural causes.

Phyllis was born Sept. 9, 1922, in Columbus, Ohio, to Carl and Louise Hummel.

The family wrote, “My grandmother was the kindest and funniest woman. We all loved to get our prank gifts for Christmas or birthdays. I will never forget those memories. Ever since I could remember she was always there for me and taught me so many valuable life lessons. I will dearly miss her. Love, Matt.”

“My mom was one of God’s greatest creations. She was my rock, best friend and the greatest mom a girl could ask for. I will miss you deeply,” said loving daughter, Cheri.

“My mom was the cornerstone of my life. She was always there for me, no matter what my problems were. Her wisdom was unmatched. I will miss her dearly, but she’s with angels in heaven and sitting at the side of God. Mom will be in my thoughts daily and in my prayers every night. God bless and keep you safe always,” said loving “Lil Sun” Bo.

Other family remembrances:

“We lost a mom, grandma, nanny and dear friend here on earth, but she is and always will be our angel. The love of life and lessons of life will forever remain through the generations. I will miss our long talks, poems and definitely our ‘Smoozles.’ I love you always.”

“Nanny was a huge part of our lives growing up. She was always just a few miles away. Not being on this earth anymore is going to be different, but she will always be in our hearts.”
