Wasilla resident Phyllis Marie Rogers, 79, died at her residence on May 28, 2011.
In accordance with Phyllis’ wishes there will be no memorial services.
Phyllis was born Feb. 9, 1932, in LaGrande, Ore., to Harold E. and Rachael F. (Hickox) Miller. The family moved from La Grande and settled in Oakland, Calif., where Phyllis grew up. She graduated from Castlemont High School. Phyllis worked as a nurse’s aide at Enloe Memorial Hospital in Chico, Calif., Eden Hospital in Castro Valley, Calif., and Chico Community Hospital in Chico.
Phyllis moved to Alaska in 2008, settling in Wasilla. At the time of her death, she was living in her dream home. Although she only got to live there for nine months, that was the house she always wanted. Her daughter moved in to care for her during her ailing time. She enjoyed watercolor painting.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Terri M. and Kenneth Donaldson and granddaughter, Brenna Dalyn Kennicker, all of Wasilla; and grandson, Joseph Warnock and daughter-in-law, Jocelyn Warnock, both of Pinole, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred Rogers; and son, Dalen Lee Warnock.
Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory of Wasilla cared for the family.
