Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Pitsamai Lincoln, 68, died March 27, 2007, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer. There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. Monda,y April 2, at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
Mrs. Lincoln was born January 5, 1938, in Udorn, Thailand, and moved to Wasilla with her husband David in 1973. She retired from the Captain Cook Hotel in 1986.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, JoAnn Green, and a son, Joseph Lincoln, both of Big Lake.
Valley Funeral home & Crematory of Wasilla is assisting the family with arrangements.
Kenda Sue Piaskowski
Kenda S. Piaskowski, 43, died March 27, 2007, at her home in Palmer.
A Vigil Service will be held Monday, April 2, at 3 p.m. at Kehl's Forest Lawn Chapel, 11621 Old Seward Hwy., Anchorage, with Father Steven Moore officiating. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 4 p.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, with Father Steven Moore as celebrant.
A gathering of food, friends and family will follow the Mass in the church rectory. Pallbearers will be Norman Bailey, Mike Williams, Travis Williams, Dan Piaskowski, Dave Piaskowski and Danny Piaskowski.
Kenda was born November 21, 1963, in Anchorage. She graduated from Palmer High School in 1982. She was an administrative assistant in the medical field.
She was affiliated with the United Way and she enjoyed camping, four-wheeling, crafting gift baskets and, most of all, spending time with her children.
Her family wrote: “Kenda showed us all the meaning of true strength, of getting back up after you've fallen. With an open heart she cared for others unconditionally and without judgment. Her fierce spirit will be remembered and celebrated, always and forever, with love and memories.”
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be mailed to her children's college fund, 3310 Orbit Drive, Anchorage, Alaska 99517.
She is survived by her daughter, Alisha A. Melin; son, Besnik Piaskowski; sister, Ginger Jahnke; brother-in-law, Dan Jahnke; niece, Terra Jahnke; mother and father, Don and Valerie Piaskowski; grandfather, Ted Williams; grandmother and grandfather, Boband Shirley Piaskowski; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Paul Jones
Paul Jones, 79, died March 28, 2007, at his home in Palmer of complications from diabetes and heart problems.
A public visitation will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2007, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Witzleben Chapel, 1707 S. Bragaw, Anchorage. A graveside service will be held at Fort Richardson National Cemetery on Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at 10 a.m. with full military honors.
Paul was born July 10, 1927 in Laurel, Mississippi. He graduated from high school and he attended some college. He served in the Army from June 1945 to April 1967. He was a sergeant first class. He served in World War II, Korean War and Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star and other commendations.
He began his Alaska residency living in Eagle River from 1952 to 1995. He then moved to Palmer, where he lived until the present.
Paul worked for the Army from June 1945 until he retired in April 1967. He worked for the Corps of Engineers from 1967 to 1972. He then worked for Jones Tool Rental & Hardware Inc. from 1972 until he retired in 1991.
He was affiliated with the Eagle River VFW, American Legion, Eagle River Lions Club, and the Eagle River Chamber of Commerce. He received the Eagle River Bear Paw Award, Bronze Star from his tour in Vietnam and other commendations.
Paul enjoyed flying his Cessna around Alaska and the Lower 48, gardening and homesteading. His wife and family wrote: “Paul was a good, caring man.”

He is survived by his wife, Carol Jones of Palmer; daughters, Cinthia and her husband Paul Anderson of Anchorage, and Deborah Jones of Eagle River; sisters, Anne Loper of Natchez, Miss., Maggie Wilkes of Bartlett, Tenn., Olivia Manor of Yazoo City, Miss., Ruby Young of Theodore, Ala., Martha Jones of Theodore, Ala., and Betty Jean Jones of Chickasaw, Ala.; grandsons, Jacob Franck of Seattle, Peter Franck of Eagle River, and Christian Allen of Cary, N.C.; granddaughters, Mary Franck of Berkeley, Calif., Monica Franck of Los Gatos, Calif., and Tonya Uptegraft of Fairbanks; great-grandson, Linden Franck of Anchorage; and great-granddaughter, Isabel Allen of Cary, N.C.
